Rev. Martin K. O'Rourke - Rector
God placed a call upon my life to be a
local church pastor, and my passion is to see lives transformed by
Jesus Christ. I also have a heart for local church pastors, and so
Messiah holds a monthly gathering for ministers from various
denominations. God used my heart for local church pastors to
develop a workshop entitled Guard Your Heart From Sexual Misconduct
for my Regent University Doctor of Ministry dissertation. This
training is designed to prevent Christian leaders from falling into
sexual misconduct, and I have presented it to groups of pastors,
chaplains, and divinity students, including 700 pastors plus their
spouses from numerous denominations in Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi and
Zimbabwe.
I have been married to my wonderful wife,
Wendy, since 1981. We have four children: Katie (married), Marty,
Molly and Danny, plus one grandchild, Jaielle.
Before coming to Church of the Messiah in
1995, I served as Rector at Church of the Resurrection near Akron,
Ohio; as Associate Rector at St. Martin's in Monroeville, Pa.; and
as Youth Advisor to the Diocese of Pittsburgh.

Rev. George W. Stockhowe, Jr. - Associate
Rector
George was the founding rector of St.
Martin's, Monroeville, PA from 1955 to 1983. While there, he and
his wife, Joanne, co-authored a book, "Jesus Is Alive", about the
impact that charismatic renewal had on them and their church
family. In 1983, after 28 years there, the Lord called George to be
founding rector of Church of the Messiah in Virginia Beach which
later moved to its present location in Chesapeake. In 1994, he left
Messiah to become rector of Calvary Church in Jacksonville, FL
where he served until retiring from full-time ministry in 1997. At
that time he returned to Church of the Messiah to become part-time
associate rector there where he continues to serve.
