46 And Mary said:
“My soul glorifies the Lord
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
I love that Mary’s exceedingly joyful declaration of what God was doing in and through her was recorded in Holy Scripture for all generations to read!! She was so young and inexperienced, but God wasn’t deterred one bit. She believed and was obedient giving her cause to rejoice that God chose her in her humble state to bring the Son of Man and God into the world. I pray that when we believe and are obedient to God’s calling on our lives, that our hearts will also rejoice and give glory to our God!
How wonderful to know His mercy extends to US -- those who fear him -- and will continue from generation to generation until He returns. What a blessed legacy we have inherited through His blood and by His grace. Hallelujah!
Mary's song praises God for His merciful care of the downtrodden. Our mighty God is not the God of the mighty, but of the weak.
I am no Mary, but I too can delight in the Lord and He hears my praise and prayers as He did Mary. How blessed we are to share this deep inheritance! Amen
Mary offers her prayerful response to the revelation of what God has done in her and through her. in these words we hear the voice of the New Creation, the fruit of the Seed she is bearing. Those whom He foreknew He predestined. And those whom He predestined He called. And those whom He called He justified. And those whom He justified He glorified. Lady Gaga didn’t know her song was prophetic of the Bride of Christ: Standing on the Edge of Glory! We’re about to take off!
