Prayer to Become Like Christ We praise You, Almighty God, for You are rich in mercy. When we were dead in our sin, You made us alive in Christ. Because of Your great love, You desire to conform us into the likeness of your Son Jesus. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit, who is transforming us to have the same attitude and mind as Christ. Help us to love the way He loves; to humble ourselves as He humbled Himself; and to trust and obey as Christ did in all things. Enable us to see people the way He does; to confront hypocrisy as He did; and to freely forgive just as Christ forgives us. Guard us from quenching Your work in our lives, and help us stay in step with the Holy Spirit each day. May we be ever changing into the likeness of Christ Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen. 2023 Lent Sermon Series & "Revival Bootcamp" God is moving! We see this at Asbury College and other campuses, and also inside our own church. Both Pastor Nile and I sense that God is pouring out His Spirit. So how do we enter into a move of God? Every revival is characterized by repentance . In the 2019 Book of Common Prayer, the invitation to Lent is to the observance of a holy Lent: by self-examination and repentance ; by prayer, fasting, and alms-giving; and by reading and meditating on God’s holy Word. These godly practices will help prepare us for a move of God. So, Lent is an ideal time to prepare and equip ourselves for an outpouring of God’s Spirit. In our Lenten program, we will lay out a biblical foundation for revival each Sunday, followed by how to experience it each Wednesday. For example, we will teach about healing one Sunday; then at that Wednesday’s “Boot Camp for Revival,” we will learn to pray for people to be healed and experience healing ourselves. Loneliness means we do not feel truly known, seen, or understood. An epidemic of loneliness was reported years ago and has only been exacerbated by social media, political division, and the pandemic. Apart from Christ, we all experience deep loneliness; and even as believers we can fail to experience the richness of relationship God intends for us. The great news is that God’s word speaks to the issue of loneliness! We can grow healthy relationships and find true intimacy in our friendships, families, and the church.
